Havana, June 20 (RHC)-- Cuban Vice President and Revolution Commander Ramiro Valdes visited the city of Cardenas, located in western Matanzas province, where he evaluated investment projects underway in the local railroad sector, the electric system and tourism.
The director of the Jose Valdes Reyes Railroad Industrial company, Alberto Moya briefed the Revolution Commander about the ongoing production of wagons for the railroad system, explaining that some 51 of them will be built between 2014 and 2015 to reinforce that kind of transportation in the country.
Accompanied by the Communist Party Secretary in the province, Teresa Rojas, the Cuban vice-president also visited an investment project that will benefit the power generation system.
Other works supervised by Ramiro Valdes included ongoing repairs of the road that leads to the renowned Varadero tourist center, which takes the remodeling of the turnpike facilities, green areas and other aspects of the thoroughfare, Prensa Latina news agency reported.
Ramiro Valdes was accompanied during his tour by the president of the provincial government, Tania Leon; Construction Minister Rene Mesa and other political and government authorities.
