Havana, July 14 (RHC) -– The peace talks by representatives of Colombia’s Revolutionary Armed Forces-People’s Army (FARC-EP)and the government will resume Tuesday focusing on the issue of the victims of the over 50-year armed conflict in the South American nation.
A joint communiqué by the parties say they will now advance the point on the victims included in the peace talks that began November 19, 2012.
The document explains that the parties advanced discussions on the way that the representatives of the victims will participate at the table of negotiations, which aims at ending the armed conflict in Colombia.
This will be the first meeting of the government and the guerrilla after the reelection of President Juan Manuel Santos.
The peace dialog has thus far reached agreement about integral agrarian development, political participation and the solution to illegal drugs.
The discussion on the issue of the victims must be carried out on the principles of truth, justice, compensation, non-repetition of events and respect for fundamental human rights, the communiqué explains.
