Havana, September 8 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, received on Thursday His Excellency Albert Ramdin, minister of Foreign Affairs, Business and International Cooperation of Suriname, who is on an official visit to the island.
The head of state added that it is a considerable commitment and a priority to continue strengthening relations between Cuba and CARICOM, the Caribbean Community.
He also recalled that December will mark the 50th anniversary of relations between the two sides. This date was also lauded by the Surinamese Foreign Minister, who brought a greeting from President Chan Santokhi to Díaz-Canel.
Mr. Albert Ramdin ratified to the Cuban dignitary the permanent position of his country against the US government's economic, commercial, and financial siege on Cuba.
"Ours is a position of principle, of full condemnation of the blockade, because we believe in unity and inclusion, without conditions. And our president, Chan Santokhi, has stated this in every multilateral forum in which he has participated," he said.
Meanwhile, Díaz-Canel thanked Suriname for its permanent support in Cuba's struggle against the criminal measure imposed by Washington for more than six decades.
The Surinamese Foreign Minister conveyed to Cuba his government's gratitude for the cooperation offered to that nation, a long-standing collaboration that he seeks to revitalize.
