Puerto Rico-Cuba Solidarity Brigade

San Juan, Oct 11 (RHC) The president of the Cuba Solidarity Committee (CSC), Milagros Rivera, announced the creation of the Coordination Commission of the 32nd Juan Rius Rivera Brigade.

The Puerto Rican political leader indicated that a meeting was previously held to discuss various issues concerning the strengthening of solidarity with Cuba, in addition to organizing the calendar of orientations, amid the recent harassment by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The Coordinating Committee of the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade will have the support of Cuba Solidarity Committee activists and collaborators, in addition to the backing of members from different contingents "to support Cuba on behalf of the Puerto Rican people".

Rivera affirmed that the U.S. federal political police cannot destroy the relationship of solidarity of more than 150 years between Cuba and Puerto Rico.

Since the Grito de Lares, on September 23, 1868, and the Grito de Yara, on October 10, 1868, "we have had a close relationship of 154 years of reciprocal solidarity that no empire will be able to break," Rivera said.

The Cuba Solidarity Committee president revealed that from October 16 to January 1, 2023, a list of candidates to join the Brigade will be drawn up.

She explained that the main requirements to join the contingent are to be opponents of the U.S. blockade against Cuba and to respect the right of the Cuban people to full sovereignty.

At the end of January, as part of the Homage to the 170th Anniversary of Cuba's National Hero José Martí, the first on-site orientation will be held, said the political leader.

The 32nd edition of the Juan Rius Rivera Brigade of Puerto Rico will make visits to eastern Cuba and is expected to participate in the Caribbean Meeting and the Meeting of Brigades of the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba and all just causes.

Rivera said that the Brigade will visit Santiago de Cuba 70 years after the attack on the Moncada Barracks and 125 years after the Yankee invasion of Puerto Rico, reaffirming that "we are a Nation and that nothing will stop us".

"Love, friendship, and solidarity among our peoples are stronger than the hatred of the empire and its lackeys," said the president of the Cuba Solidarity Committee.

She urged people to join this effort, either by traveling to Cuba with the Brigade or by recruiting people for solidarity work in Puerto Rico.

"Cuba in solidarity requires that we continue the fight against the criminal blockade imposed by the United States against the people and the Revolution," Rivera stressed. (Source: PL)
