Legislative of the Venezuelan state of Falcón refutes blockade against Cuba

Caracas, October 23 (RHC)-- The Municipal Council of Carirubana in the western Venezuelan state of Falcon adopted an agreement in solidarity with the people of Cuba and in repudiation of the economic blockade against the island.

In its ordinary session, the legislative body rejected "the hostile and inhumane attitude" of the U.S. government in continuing with its "merciless and criminal" economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean nation.

Likewise, it objected to the application of "unconventional, improper and unacceptable" measures against the economy of the Cuban people.

The text stated that the blockade expresses the historical inability of the U.S. administrations to admit Cuba as an independent, respected nation, recognized by all the countries of the world, according to international law to exercise its sovereignty and free self-determination.

"We absolutely reject the measures violating human rights, economic and self-determination of peoples, executed by the United States in a coercive manner "increasingly against the heroic Cuban people", the document stressed.

The legislature agreed to join all the efforts of the social movements, popular and political organizations and those in solidarity with the Cuban people, so that together, and in a single voice, the "urgent need" for the lifting of the blockade and the unilateral sanctions is once again raised before the UN.

The resolution, signed by the councilor, Sabrina Daniela Leal, and Marco Osteicoechea, municipal secretary, recalled that this punitive policy implemented by the United States and its allies against the "brotherly Caribbean people" has been in force for more than 60 years.

The Municipal Legislative Power agreed to give the widest dissemination from Carirubana to this agreement in order to make visible the unity of the peoples of Venezuela and Cuba in solidarity, brotherhood and permanent friendship.
