Cuban Foreign Minister talks with President of UN General Assembly

Havana, Jan 12 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez held a meeting Thursday in New York with the president of the United Nations General Assembly, Csaba Kőrösi, before the island assumes the presidency of the Group of 77 plus China.

 

At the meeting, the head of the Cuban diplomacy signified the country's priorities for his mandate as the head of the political group and ratified the willingness to work constructively in multilateral processes.

 

"I met with Csaba Kőrösi and we exchanged on Cuba's priorities at the head of the G-77 + China in 2023," Rodriguez wrote on Twitter.

 

He added in his message that during the meeting he ratified the Group's support and active role, always working constructively and flexibly, in this year of multiple and relevant multilateral processes.

 

The Cuban Foreign Minister heads the delegation that attended the Group's presidential handover ceremony in New York today, which will include a videotaped speech by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

 

The Group of 77 plus China brings together 134 of the 193 members of the United Nations (UN), that is, 80 percent of the world's population. The main areas in which it operates are trade, industry, food, agriculture, energy, and finance.

 

Although they may have governments of different political persuasions, they share a series of values, such as respect for international law, the promotion of democracy, the protection of human rights. (Source: Prensa Latina)
