Havana, March 18 (RHC) A donation for those affected by the devastating Hurricane Ian in the western Cuban municipality of San Luis, Pinar del Río, is ready today for shipment from southern Ho Chi Minh City.
The Thai Binh company, Cubans residing in Ho Chi Minh City and members of the Cuban State Mission in Vietnam contributed to the acquisition of personal hygiene products, textiles and equipment for refrigerators.
Hurricane Ian crossed the territory of Pinar del Río at the end of last September with category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale (of five) and caused two deaths and considerable damage to the electricity transmission networks, communications, homes, facilities and agriculture.
In the case of the San Luis municipality, one of the most affected by the weather phenomenon, more than 1,470 total landslides and nearly 8,000 damaged homes were recorded, as well as large losses in the tobacco sector. (Source: PL)
