Cuban President expresses will to continue strengthening relations with FAO

Havana, March 27 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed this Monday his country's will to continue strengthening the historic relations of cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

In a meeting held with the Deputy Director General and Regional Representative of that organization, Mario Lubetkin, the Cuban president reiterated his gratitude for the accompaniment for the purpose of achieving food sovereignty.

Lubetkin is in this Caribbean nation until March 28, with the purpose of strengthening and consolidating the work with the Government to advance the food and nutrition security agenda, as reported by the FAO in a statement.

Before his trip to Cuba, the UN official visited Panama, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, with an agenda that began with his participation in the 63rd edition of the Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and IDB Invest.

Later, in Mexico, he completed a work agenda that included meetings with the Secretaries of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard; and of Agriculture and Rural Development, Víctor Villalobos.

The FAO regional representative also participated in the 28th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government (SEGIB), which was held on March 24 and 25 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. (Source: Prensa Latina)
