Paris, Jun 21 (RHC) As part of his European tour, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived Wednesday in France, where he will participate in the summit for a New Global Financial Pact and will carry out an extensive program of activities.

Local authorities and the island's ambassadors to France, Otto Vaillant, and to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), Yahima Esquivel, received the president and the delegation accompanying him, including Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

Tomorrow, the summit for a New World Financial Pact will be inaugurated at the Palais Brongniart in this capital, where the Cuban head of state will be one of the main guests.

The forum aims to reach a consensus for a more reactive, fair, and solidarity-based financial system that will make it possible to address inequalities, support the fight against climate change and achieve the goals of sustainable development.

As part of his agenda in Paris, Díaz-Canel will meet with the director general of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, and will participate in various meetings.

The president of the Caribbean Island previously visited the Vatican, Italy, and Serbia, where he held talks with Pope Francis, Presidents Sergio Mattarella, and Aleksandar Vučić, respectively. (Source: PL)
