European Parliament is asked to reject resolution against Cuba
Havana, July 12 (RHC) The International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity for the Peoples requested the European Parliament the rejection of a resolution against Cuba.
The committee that advocates for human dignity, peace and brotherhood among peoples, addressed a petition condemning the Resolution registered as 2023/2744 (RSP) to the MEPs of the legislative body.
In the letter they appeal to the conscience of the parliamentarians to avoid the commission of a great injustice and a serious political error against a small, peaceful and sovereign country like Cuba, which has given the world the greatest proofs of humanism and solidarity.
They recalled that when humanity was struggling between life and death in the midst of the worst pandemic caused by Covid-19, it was the small, besieged and blockaded Cuba that offered its doctors, saving tens of thousands of lives around the world. They cited the Italian population of Turin as an example, which witnessed this gesture of solidarity and thanked the Cuban people and governments for it.
In this difficult pandemic context, Cuba offered the world three of its own highly effective Anti-Covid vaccines, with which it managed to immunize its population and get the lowest death rate in the world.
The petition to reject the anti-Cuban resolution recalls the attitude of the US government that denied the Caribbean island the purchase of masks, gloves, syringes, protective equipment for the Red Zone and lung respirators; in response, its scientists created vaccines, saved their people and offered them to humanity.
The letter urges the United States to eliminate the blockade, extraterritorial laws, and sanctions, in accordance with the global condemnation for 31 years at the UN. In the same way, they demanded the exclusion of the island from the list of countries that supposedly promote terrorism.
Finally, the members of the committee reiterate their opposition to the offensive, disrespectful and interventionist Resolution 2023/2744 (RSP) that reflects the hatred of those who could never present it before the Honorable National Assembly that represents the Cuban people. (Source: PL)
