Representative of the European Union for Human Rights visit to Cuba began
Havana, Nov 23 (RHC) The special representative of the European Union for Human Rights, Eamon Gilmore, began a two-day visit to Cuba this Thursday, in which he will hold meetings with government representatives and with civil society.
In a message on X, the representative states that he will also co-chair the Cuba-EU Human Rights Dialogue.
As part of his work program in Havana, Gilmore was received at the National Capitol by Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly of People's Power and exchanged with Cuban deputies.
The Cuba-EU Human Rights Dialogue will be held in the context of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement between the parties, which was signed in 2016, ending the so-called Common Position of 1996 through which the European bloc allied itself with the pressure from the US government.
