Ángel Pérez Herrero was a prominent figure in Cuban education and culture
Havana, Nov 25 (RHC) Cuban teacher Ángel Pérez Herrero, who achieved great recognition for his participation in the television program Escriba y lea (in English, Write and Read), died this Friday at 81 years old.
Pérez was born on May 8, 1942 in Havana. He was a prominent figure in the country's education and culture, and served as a teacher, lecturer, historian and writer.
Graduated in Pedagogy and Legal Sciences, his career included roles as a rural teacher and director of literature at the University Extension Commission. He also taught at the University of Havana, where he also served as a historian.
Pérez stood out for his educational work both in Cuba and abroad, including countries such as Sao Tomé and Príncipe, Cape Verde, Mexico and Guatemala, as well as in international events.
He received numerous awards, including the José Tey Medal and the Rafael María de Mendive Distinction, for his contribution to Cuban education. (Source: ACN)
