Cuba and Japan Consider Expansion of Trade Relations

Havana, October 4, (RHC), – In related news, Cuban and Japanese business executives considered opportunities to expand commercial cooperation and the signing of new accords, during a joint conference held this week in Havana.

The areas of fishing, pharmaceutical and tourism were high on the agenda aimed at finding ways to further commercial relations, given the opportunities offered by the new Cuban Investment Law.
 
In his welcoming remarks at the forum, Cuban Foreign Trade minister, Rodrigo Malmierca, said that the Cuban government is willing to work on the implementation of joint projects to the benefit of both parties.
 
He said that Cuba looks forwards to having larger Japanese trade activity and promoting local companies in Japan as well as receiving a larger number of Japanese tourists.
 
Meanwhile, the president of the Cuba-Japan Economic Conference, Tomo-yochi Kondo, called on participants to take advantage of the forum in favor of bilateral economic and commercial relations.
Cuba is making big efforts to boost its economy; we have seen the willingness of the government in all sectors, including private activity, to reach necessary development for the benefit of the country, he stressed.
