Call to redouble solidarity with Cuba

Havana, Jul 31 (RHC) The International Solidarity Campaign “Hands Off Cuba”, called by the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) to its affiliated organizations around the world has received unanimous support.
In Rabat, the capital of Morocco, a demonstration held a protest in front of the U.S. Embassy, in solidarity with the Cuban people where they demanded Hands Off Cuba and Stop the siege now.
In Nicosia, capital of Cyprus, a solidarity event was held in front of the monument to the National Hero José Martí, where the country's Friendship Association praised the heroism of the Cuban people who continue to resist despite the inhuman economic, commercial and financial blockade that the US government has imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years.
Vera Polycarpoy, on behalf of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association strongly condemned the inclusion of the Cuban nation in the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
The National Confederation of Trade Unions of INDIA (AITUC) and the WFTU of Colombia expressed their solidarity with the Greater of the Antilles.
In Uruguay, the WFTU Coordinating Committee issued a communiqué, where it reaffirmed that “Cuba is not alone and never will be. The ideology of Martí, and the validity of Fidel remain alive in the hearts of the Cuban people and of every revolutionary who travels the world”.
We demand an end to the murderous blockade against the Cuban people.
In Valparaíso, an act of solidarity took place at the headquarters of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCH) in the port city, where the Zonal V Coast - Valparaíso expressed its militant solidarity with Cuba.
Councilwoman Alicia Zúñiga, speaking to the audience, said “Today we are here because we believe that it is time to increase our support to Cuba, to give a hand back to those who have given everything, to those who have made solidarity a way of life”.
On his part, Fabian Aguilera, on behalf of the Union of Construction Workers stated “The island is, and has always been, a light for the peoples who are still under the yoke of Imperialism, and its cruelest expression, facism”.
On the occasion, messages of greetings from the deputies Boris Barrera and Maria Candelario Acevedo, both from the PCCH were read.
In a message sent to the event, the Chilean Committee of Solidarity with Palestine, affirmed that “Cuba was and is an inspiration for the struggles of all the peoples of the world”.
Hundreds of people attended a cultural activity organized by the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in Chile, which took place in the Isidora Zegers Hall of the Faculty of Arts of the Chilean University.
"Just as yesterday, during the Popular Unity government, Cuba supplied sugar, saved many compatriots by welcoming them to the island, trained specialists, sent medical brigades during disasters, we must respond to this generosity with the same dimension," said PCCH President Lautaro Carmona during the event, which was attended by political and social leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, doctors who graduated in Cuba, and friends of the Revolution.
Carmona called to triple the initiative “Pon tu grano de Amor por Cuba”, developed by graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) and the Gladys Marín Foundation.

Ernesto Freire Cazañas, regional secretary general of the WFTU said that the purpose of the Solidarity Campaign “Hands off Cuba” is to spread the internationalist message that the island is not alone, especially in this difficult period in which the Cuban people are in the sights of Imperialism, it is vital to express militant solidarity and internationalist support.
