President Diaz-Canel congratulates Mijaín López on his 42nd birthday

Havana, August 20 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated five-time Olympic champion Mijaín López on his 42nd birthday on Tuesday.

 On his X profile, the head of state noted that López's fifth Olympic gold medal at Paris 2024 has made him one of the legends of this sporting event.

In his message, Diaz-Canel praised "the dedication, dignity and commitment of the true athlete who is proud to wear the four-letter (Cuba) team shirt".

With his victory on August 6 in Paris, López became the best wrestler in history to win gold medals in an individual event (130 kg Greco-Roman wrestling) at five consecutive Olympic Games.

He had previously won the title at Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.  (Source: Prensa Latina)
