Montevideo, November 18 (RHC)-- Uruguayan Foreign Minister Luis Almagro has confirmed his country's opposition to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. against Cuba, and said that the government of Montevideo will endeavor to help end this restrictive policy.
In an interview with the national newspaper La República, Uruguay's top diplomat called Cuba “a special friend” of the South American country, and said that there are possibilities in various sectors to enhance bilateral trade.
Almagro highlighted that his country has enjoyed the cooperation of the Caribbean nation and its generosity, both in the health sector and in other areas, adding that the island has played a major role in Uruguay's democratization process.
