Havana, January 17 (RHC-PL) – The Foreign Affairs Minister of Ghana, Hanna Serwaah, highlighted today her nation's strong ties with Cuba. In statements to the press, Serwaah pointed out that the objective of this visit to Havana is to strengthen the links with the island, which are already strong in itself.
She stressed the mutual support in the international arena in topics of common interest and also highlighted the Cuban cooperation that has allowed Ghanaian young people to study as well as the permanence of a Cuban medical brigade in that territory.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana laid a floral wreath at the monument of the former President Kwame Nkrumah located in the city park of the African Heroes.
She said that relations between Cuba and Ghana were sealed after the embrace between Nkrumah and the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in September 1960 at the Hotel Theresa, in Harlem.
Serwaah said that Nkrumah's values guided the formation of the new Ghanaian generations, including social justice and equality of opportunity and freedom.
