Potosí, August 1 (RHC)-- Bolivia's Universidad Nacional Siglo Veinte, located in the department of Potosí, granted an Honoris Causa title to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro.
René Paco, head of Public Relations at the prestigious academic institution, stated that the honorary titled granted to Fidel is in recognition for his defense of just causes around the world, particularly the poor and the oppressed.
The Bolivian education official stressed that Fidel's ideals and principles match perfectly those promoted by the higher education center. The high distinction was handed over to counselor of the Cuban Embassy in La Paz, Erick Valdés. The ceremony was attended by Bolivian President Evo Morales, who will seize the opportunity of this visit to Potosí to inaugurate a sports center with capacity for four thousand people.
