Havana, September 26 (PL-RHC)-- The upcoming total lunar eclipse, to take place on the evening of September 27th, will be visible throughout Cuba from beginning to end, the Geophysics and Astronomy Institute of the Island nation said.

The phenomenon may also be seen in most of the American continent, West Africa and Western Europe, the scientific institution stated.

In Cuba, the lunar event will start as a partial eclipse at 21:07 local time, and the total eclipse will begin at 22:11 local time.

The maximum phase is scheduled at 23:23 local time, while it will end at 00:27 on Sept. 28. All data are expressed in daylight saving time.

The magnitude of this eclipse will be 1.276, which means that the center of the Moon will cross midway between the edge and center of the umbra.

This will be the last of a series of four total lunar eclipses that have occurred over the last 18 months, two of which were seen in Cuba.

According to Cuban astronomers, the next total lunar eclipse in the island will occur on January 20, 2019.
