Sancti Spiritus, July 24 (RHC)-- The Cuban central province of Sancti Spiritus is committed to increase the efficiency of electricity generation and distribution through the use of renewable energy sources such as solar energy.
With this objective, it is expected that by the end of 2018 Sancti Spiritus will have completed eight photovoltaic solar parks (PSFV) with a power of 20.2 megawatt/hour, which would mean an annual generation of 30.3 gigawatt/hour and will save 7,878 tons of fuel and 25,724 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) less will be emitted to the atmosphere.
According to the General Director of the Electricity Company in the territory, Carlos Misael Rodriguez, in 2017, 322 megawatts/hour were saved. They also reported no fatal accidents, and the investment plan was met.
Sancti Spiritus' electricians restored in just 18 days the damage caused last September by Hurricane Irma through the territory, he said.
There are already PSFV in the municipality of La Sierpe and in Neiva (Cabaiguan), two are in execution phase in Guasimal (Sancti Spiritus), while in Yaguajay all the tables and panels are already assembled.
In addition, one will be built in Mayajigua and another in Venegas, both in the northern municipality of Yaguajay, he told Prensa Latina. All these panels have Chinese technology, except for La Sierpe, which is from Spain.
