Havana, Aug 20 (RHC) The eldest daughter of Cuban singer Benny Moré will collect the Star of the Century award from the Latin Institute of Music (ILM) to paradigmatic figures of art, like her father.

According to a statement from the institute, the ceremony will be held at the Karl Marx Theater on the first weekend of September, in order to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the so-called Barbarian of the rhythm.

The Mexican bronze prize, bathed in gold, with the name of carved Benny Moré, will reach the hands of Hilda Moré, the artist's eldest daughter.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, the delivery will be chaired by the musician Edesio Alejandro, who is the ILM regional delegate for the Caribbean since January 2019.

The ILM emerged on February 21, 1921, in Mexico City and brought together the most influential artists at the continental level to expand culture and healthy entertainment.

Currently, it brings together as Cultural Ambassadors several members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the United States Academy of Recordings, as well as many of the cultural institutions of Latin America.

Among the distinguished with the recognition of Star of the Century are the artists Marco Antonio Muñiz, Jorge Negrete, Pedro Infante, José Alfredo Jiménez, Javier Solís, Celia Cruz and Lola Flores.

While Cuban musicians Frank Fernández, Leo Brouwer, Adalberto Álvarez and the Los Van Van Orchestra have been invested as ILM Ambassadors.
