Havana, June 27 (RHC) – Netflix premiered on its platform The Wasp Network and the film is being watched and commented.

The film is far from being a manifesto in favor of ‘the Cuban cause,’ as some say, and from an artistic point of view has both strengths and weaknesses. The main value of Oliver Assayas' film is that, true to the historical truth, it is explicit in terms of the right of Cubans to infiltrate counterrevolutionary organizations in Miami and thus ensure the safety of their country, a vital action that stopped the wave of terrorist attacks in the 1990’s, with the complicity of the US government.

But counterrevolutionaries don’t forgive. They filled it with diatribes and boycotted it in Miami without seeing it - just knowing that a story about the Cuban Five had been presented at the Venice Festival in 2019. They are now raging again with the screening just started by Netflix, and are collecting signatures among their acolytes to call for its disappearance from the scene in which the top global streaming platform is promoting it.

‘We want Netflix to remove the movie The Wasp Network for damages,’ is ridiculously demanded in a document that also states that the film ‘defends murderous Castro spies sentenced in the United States.’ Old schemes, repeated lies, pathetic positions, not in the face of a vast, controversial, revealing, imperfect film, but against the truth that emerges from it, and that the letter signatories - without solid arguments - claim to eliminate by all means.
