Companies from the United States, France, South Korea, Germany and the Middle East have signed contracts for the distribution of Meñique, the first long 3D feature animated film made in Cuba and premiered on the island to mark Children’s Day on July 20th.
It has been reportedly known that an alternative copy with a more universal script will be screened in Spain. The film is a free version of Meñique, a story by Cuban National Hero José Martí after Poucinet by French writer, Edouard Laboulaye. Meñique tells the story of a young and short peasant who gets involved in an adventurous journey to get the hand of Princes Denise, with the motto "knowledge is stronger than strength". With a script is by Cuba’s Ernesto Padrón, the animated film is a co-production by the Cuban Film Institute’s Animated Film Studios and Ficción Producciones from Galicia, Spain.
