Cultural Journalism Colloquium

Camagüey, June 2 (RHC)-- The VI Colloquium on Cultural Journalism, which is being held from June 1st to the 3rd, will once again gather specialists in this Cuban heritage city to discuss crucial topics on art, society and media expressions in the country.

It will dedicate its spaces for improvement, learning and exchange to the 11th Congress of the Union of Cuban Journalists (Upec) and the 4th Congress of the Saíz Brothers Association (AHS) in an edition that has music as the main reference of the exchange.

A round table discussion with several researchers from the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Camagüey and Havana was held in the birthplace of the National Poet, Nicolás Guillén (1902-1989), to discuss key issues, such as "Do we communicate well the issues related to music?

On the subject, Rossana Rivero, journalist of the weekly magazine Ahora , from Holguin, spoke about the potential of video clip makers from that province in northeastern Cuba, which has one of the branches of the Higher Institute of Art.

"We have many people with a high aesthetic sense to make this type of art within art, because the video clip is also a different way of making cinema, and that has grown a lot in Cuba," said the winner of the Ruben Martinez Villena National Award.

At the same time, the departure of some filmmakers from the country was discussed, as well as the use and exploitation of various social media platforms to disseminate the best of cultural journalism on the island.

Leading the organizers of the VI edition of the Colloquium is Gretel Díaz, journalist of the newspaper Trabajadores.

The researcher spoke of the possibilities to "improve narrative techniques, ways of dialogue, and have a stronger cultural journalism in this country that has so much to drink from and exponents to match".

The presentation "Cultural journalism, between criticism and thought" by Joaquín Borges also stood out in this day, a space where those present discussed keys to delve into the debts that this media section has in the Greater Antilles. (Source:PL)
