The Third Polish Theater Festival kicked off in Havana on Tuesday with an opportunity to hold a dialogue with important Polish playwrights and their work.
According to Cuban coordinator and playwright, Reinaldo Montero, Polish drama left its imprint on the island’s stages over the past 60 years, with figures such as Jerzy Grotowsky and Tadeusz Kantor as references. One of the one week long festival’s attractions is the premier of the play The Émigrés, by Polish playwright Slawomir Mrozek, by El Cuartel Theater Company, at the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Center’s Theater. Other works like White Matrimony and Smile to My Own Camera will be revisited on Cuban stages.
