Havana, January 17 (RHC/JIT)-- The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC) reported an agreement to bring the 2024 Caribbean Series to Loan Depot Park Stadium in Miami, United States.

The event will return to South Florida 33 years after the last time (1991), thanks to a pact with the Marlins franchise.

The event annually brings together the winter tournament champions of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, plus occasional or permanent guests.

At this moment, Colombia and Panama have this last status, after the thunderous departure of Cuba at the beginning of 2020 due to serious differences with the CBPC.

The most important of these has to do precisely with the status, since Cuba claims its right to be a full member of the CBPC, which could not "come together" during its return to the event between 2014 and 2019.

Just a few days ago, Juan Reinaldo Perez Pardo, national commissioner of baseball in Cuba, confirmed that there is currently no dialogue with the CBPC for the return of the island's champion to the Caribbean League.

Thus, the logical tensions and doubts that would arise from an eventual attendance of the Cubans in Miami in 2024 are not in sight.

Last year, the main Cuban national team went to Florida for the pre-Olympic tournament of the Americas, during which it faced provocations of a political nature and incitements to desert on several of its members.

Juan Francisco Puello Herrera, commissioner of the CBPC, also announced on Saturday the remaining venues of the event until 2027.

Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, will host the 2022 event from January 28 to February 3. Caracas will host in 2023, Miami in 2024, Mexicali in 2025, a Puerto Rican city to be defined in 2026 and Hermosillo in 2027.
