Havana, February 27 (RHC)-- Argentinean striker Lionel Messi received today The Best award for the best player of the season, an award he retains after living a dream year in 2022.

Messi won in an unobjectionable way thanks to the most important success of his career, the title of the Qatar 2022 soccer World Cup, with the national team of Argentina, beating France 5-3 in the final in a penalty shootout.

In the voting, the Paris Saint-Germain striker beat his teammate, Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, and fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema, who completed the podium of finalists.

The evening had a notable Argentinean protagonism with the awards to Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez as the best goalkeeper of the season, to Lionel Scaloni as the best coach and to the Argentine fans as the most enthusiastic in that period.
