Sydney, November 18 (RHC)-- Australia’s national football team will donate a portion of their match fees from a World Cup qualifier against Palestine to support humanitarian causes in Gaza, Reuters news agency reports.

Australia will play Palestine in Kuwait on Tuesday in a game that was to be held in the occupied West Bank but was relocated due to the war in Gaza.

A percentage of the players’ match fees from the game will be directed towards Oxfam’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza, Professional Footballers Australia said.

“The thoughts of the PFA are with all of those impacted by the conflict and the humanitarian crisis that is unfolding as a result,” the organisation’s co-chief executive officer, Beau Busch, said in a statement.

Australia, ranked 27th in the world and fourth in Asia, top their qualifying group following a 7-0 win over Bangladesh.  World number 96 Palestine are third after drawing with Lebanon.
