Havana, February 19 (RHC) - Cuban Marlies Mejías shone in the Valley of the Sun, a road cycling event held over three days in Goodyear, Arizona, United States.

31 years old and Olympic diploma winner in London-2012 and Rio-2016, Mejías (Virginia's Blue Ridge TWENTY24) managed to get on the podium in the three modalities in which she competed.

The World Cup medallist and multiple Central and Pan American champion won the criterium (Sunday), was second in the road race (Saturday) and third in the time trial (Friday).

"I am happy with the results. They show that the preparation for the Pan American in April is going well. I would like to qualify for my third Olympic Games," Mejías told Radio Habana Cuba (www.radiohc.cu) via social networks.

With category 2.1, the Valley of the Sun had the participation of more than a hundred riders from various professional clubs.

In the Criterium, the Cuban rider clocked 37.19 minutes, the same time as seven other riders, including the Olympic champion and multi-world champion Jennifer Valente (from the same team), and the Canadian multi-continental champion in Lima-2019, Sara Van Dam (DNA Pro Cycling).
