Havana, March 6 (JIT) - After the Grand Slam of Judo in Tashkent, the International Judo Federation (IJF) updated the rankings for the Olympic qualification for Paris 2024.

At the moment, five Cubans are in privileged positions, although others still show mathematical options to reach it.

World runner-up Ivan Silva (90 kg) secured his direct qualification by moving up one place to 17, but more important than the place are the 360 stripes he added to reach 2,498.

Silva can still improve that position, as he still has one event left to reach the six qualifying events.

World champion Andy Granda (+100 kg) lost in his first bout in Tashkent against the event's eventual champion, so he only accumulated 10 points, however, his eighth place in the list does not seem to jeopardize his qualification to Paris 2024.

Maylín del Toro (63 kg) remained unchanged as number 20 with direct qualification for the moment, Idelannis Gómez (70 kg) should have a dizzying rebound before the Olympic qualification closes next June, as he seems to be in 44th place.

Finally, Idalys Ortiz (+78 kg) did not move from 25th place and retained the penultimate place with the right to direct ticket.

Jonathan Charón (60 kg) moved up one place (51st) and Magdiel Estrada (73 kg) kept his 21st place and his continental quota.

There are still several commitments of the IJF world tour, in addition to continental tournaments, enough to accumulate points in the ranking.
