Havana, April 3 (ACN) - Cubans Jorge Grau and Laina Perez could not achieve their Olympic tickets to Paris 2024, in the 10-meter (m) air pistol of the Americas Rifle and Pistol Championship, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Both Cuban pistol shooters, champions at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, advanced to the final stage of their events, but did not reach the awards podium.

In the round for the medals, Grau accumulated 133.5 units to place seventh, in an event won by Santiago Andres Parra of Chile.

Also in the heats in the rifle three positions at 50 m, Rainier Quintanilla finished third in his group and this Wednesday will seek to advance to the final, as well as his teammates Lisbeth Hernandez and Dianelys Perez.

So far, the only Cuban qualifier in sport shooting is Leuris Pupo, double Olympic medalist, gold in London 2012 and silver in Tokyo 2020 in the 25 m rapid fire pistol.
