Havana , June 19 (RHC) - Great expectation reigns throughout Cuba with the match this Wednesday between the Cuban volleyball team and Serbia in the League of Nations (VNL).

The clash will be crucial, because both teams are practically fighting directly for the last Olympic ticket to Paris 2024 and the difference between them is minimal.

The Serbian national team currently has a one-point lead over Cuba in the Olympic ranking, which is the criterion for determining the last berths for the French capital.

Motivated by the interest aroused by the Cuban team in the fans, the island's television announced on Tuesday that from now on it would broadcast live all the matches of the national team, which includes world stars such as Robertlandy Simón, Miguel Angel López and Marlon Yant, the latter among the top scorers of the tournament.

In Wednesday's opener, Germany defeated Olympic champion France 3-1.

On Tuesday, Slovenia defeated Argentina 3-0 to secure its presence in the next Olympic Games.

Tuesday's day was completed with the successes of Bulgaria over Türkiye 3-1, Canada against Japan 3-2, and Brazil against the Netherlands 3-1.

In the standings, Cuba has 12 points with 4-4 and is in eighth place, the last place that gives access to the next round.

Slovenia leads the table 8-1 (21 points), which with its most recent victory has already officially qualified for Paris. They are followed by Italy 7-1 (21 points) and Brazil 6-3 (19 points).
