Paris, Aug 29 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese delegation today won two of the first three gold medals awarded at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, titles awarded in para-cycling.

At the National Velodrome, the representation of the Asian giant ratified its status as the favorite to dominate the overall table of preseasons, with the crowns in the individual pursuit at 3000 meters for men and women in the C1 category.

Li Zhangyu climbed to the top of the podium escorted by his compatriot Liang Weicong, while among the women, Wang Xiaomei won the gold medal.

Three years ago, at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, China won 96 gold medals, 55 more than its nearest rival, Great Britain.

The other para-cycling title went to Caroline Groot of the Netherlands in the 500-meter time trial in the C4-5 category, an event in which the host country, France, won its first medal with Marie Patoulliet's silver.
