National Volleyball Championship (f)

Havana, Mar 23 (RHC) - The team from Pinar del Río became the new winners of the National Volleyball Championship (F) held in Camagüey.

For the first time in the history of these competitions, teams from these provinces climbed to the top of the podium.

The vueltabajeras were crowned after last year's second place, while those from the land of Yayabo had previously won three runner-ups and a bronze medal.

In the discussion of the gold medal, the girls from Pinar del Rio defeated the girls from Havana by a sweep of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-15. Thus they sealed their outstanding performance, which surpassed that of 2024, because this time they were undefeated, winning all six matches and losing only one set.

In the Iván Hidalgo Funes auditorium, the competition closed with the team and individual awards. In the latter, the opposing player of the champion team, Martha García, was nominated as the most valuable player, winning the awards for top scorer and best attacker.

The honor roll was completed by teammates Lisbeisys Hernández (passing) and Helen Berriel (defense); Daima del Río (service) and Leidy Carla Vázquez (blocking), and Zunel Díaz (reception and libero).

As best in their respective responsibilities, Maridelsys Costa, coach of the champion team, and Nisleidy Miranda, referee of the province.
