La Paz, March 21 (RHC) The Bolivian Tupac Katari satellite will help lowering telephone and satellite TV prices in the country, said the director of the Bolivian Space Agency (ABE), Ivan Zambrana.
Internet services in rural areas will have similar cost than in cities, Zambrana said and added that the quality of those services will also increase noticeably.
The satellite will allow for a large number of applications favoring the performance of telephone companies and other entities that purchase the service, he noted but the main beneficiaries will be the people who live rural areas, since they will have connectivity previously absent because they do count on technology such as optic fiber cables operating in urban areas.
The Tupac Katari was launched December 20, 2013 from the Xi Guan Space Center in China in order to improve communication signals in Bolivian territory.
