Brasilia, June 24 (RHC)-- Brazil reported on Wednesday that it registered 115,228 new cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours -- the highest number since the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic began in February last year.
The Ministry of Health of the South American giant indicated that with this number of new cases, there's now a total of 18,169,881 confirmed infections of the viral disease. During the day, 2,392 people died of the coronavirus in Brazil, for a total of 507,109 deaths due to SARS-CoV-2.
Thus, Brazil is the third country in the world with the highest number of accumulated infections, behind only the United States with 34,449,004, and India with 30,082,778 infections.
