Buenos Aires, January 7 (RHC)-- The XXII Summit of Foreign Ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), began its plenary session in person and virtually, with the attendance of some 30 delegations.

San Martin Palace, headquarters of the Argentinean Foreign Ministry, is welcoming the ministers who make up the regional mechanism, founded 12 years ago, with the aim of achieving a space for coordination and integration among the countries of the area.

According to the program, after the traditional official photo, the session began at 10 a.m. local time with a speech by the host Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero, followed by his Mexican counterpart, Marcelo Ebrard, with a report on his country's performance during its pro tempore presidency.

With the presence of President Alberto Fernández, the meeting is addressing several issues of common interest.

For Argentina, hosting the CELAC foreign ministers' summit for the first time is an example of its commitment to strengthening ties among the countries of the region and fostering bridges of dialogue and inclusion.
