La Paz, February 24 (RHC)-- The Union Federation of Intercultural Communities of Santa Cruz called for a march to demand sanctions against those responsible for the crimes carried out during the 2019 coup d'état in Bolivia.

The leader of the convening federation, Guido Cuadros, said in this regard: "They have to pay for these crimes.  We are not animals so that they can have us killed.  Wwe have been persecuted, our comrades have been imprisoned with false accusations."

For the peasants of Santa Cruz, the coup d'état meant the beginning of persecutions, humiliations, imprisonments and massacres, for not agreeing with the politicians who took power in 2019.

In spite of this, the politicians who perpetrated the crimes have not been brought to justice.  Among these stand out the head of the Citizen Community, Carlos Mesa, as well as the current governor of Santa Cruz, Fernando Camacho.

Likewise, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Independence of Judges and Lawyers, Diego García-Sayán, demanded to bring to court those responsible for the massacres carried out by the de facto government, in which more than 37 people are estimated to have died, according to the information of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI).

In this sense, the United Nations representative expressed that: "The victims and relatives of victims are still waiting for justice and reparations, this is an issue that should be a priority so that the people affected by the violence can find some justice."
