Finland's NATO membership questioned in the Democratic Popular Republic of Korea

Havana, April 7 (RHC) - Finland's recent NATO membership has led to a cynical attitude by Western powers that earlier vowed not to expand in the direction of Russia, a commentator from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Friday.

International affairs analyst Kim Yu Chol made this assessment in an article entitled NATO expansion causes new calamity, the ACNC publication reported.

After the disintegration of the former USSR, from 1999 to 2020, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) enlisted 14 countries in Eastern Europe and with coastlines on the Baltic Sea on five occasions, thus failing to comply with the commitment not to pursue the expansion of the alliance against Russia, the columnist pointed out.

In this sense, he valued that Finland's adhesion to the aggressive military bloc breaks for the sixth time the Western promise made to Moscow and the rest of the world. He considered the impudence of NATO outrageous, since it reduces the border between that entity and Russian territory.

After denouncing that the United States Government maintains its intention to build a unipolar world, analyst Kim said that Washington is currently trying to organize the Atlantic Alliance with an Asian version, through the support of its allies in that region. He indicated that this responds to the interest of the northern country to achieve world hegemony.

He remarked that in recent times, Japan and its South Korean acolytes are trying to collude with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which raises concerns that another incident like the one in Ukraine could occur in the Asia-Pacific region.

The reckless US strategy of getting the whole world into NATO is nothing more than a self-defeating ambition, he stressed.

Finally, he also warned that some forces in the Asia-Pacific region, desperate to join NATO, should keep in mind that this aggressive military bloc is not a "nest of happiness", but the first trench of the United States. (Source: Prensa Latina)
