CELAC evaluates the creation of a center for scientific development

Caracas, October 5 (RHC)-- Ministers and other authorities of Science, Technology and Innovation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) evaluated this Tuesday in Caracas the creation of a regional center for the development of these areas, informed the Government of Venezuela.

It is the first meeting of a technical commission of the mechanism that will study a proposal on the creation of the Latin American and Caribbean Center for the Development of Science and Technology, which aims to promote regional integration from a "more supportive and cooperative approach," said the Ministry of Science and Technology of the South American nation in a statement.

The ministry said in the press release that this center "will contribute to strengthening the exchange of national and regional efforts, with projects that involve the joint participation of institutions" dedicated to the study of these areas.

The ministry added that it plans to develop postgraduate programs in areas such as Social Studies of Science, Immunology, Human Genetics, Physiology and Biophysics, Biochemistry, Ecology and Medical Physics, among others.

The Venezuelan Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, expressed through X, that the "dream of Latin American and Caribbean unity becomes a reality" when the "mobility of researchers in the region, shared projects", "infrastructures associated with the generation of knowledge and innovation" and universities are expanded.

Last June, CELAC representatives in the areas of science, technology and innovation held a series of meetings in Caracas where they reached "important contributions" to "strengthen regional integration and cooperation", stated the Venezuelan government.
