Caracas, March 19 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro denounced on Monday terrorist plans by fugitive from justice Leopoldo López and former Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Vélez to attack the South American nation.

"I have information that Leopoldo López was meeting with other terrorists such as Álvaro Uribe Vélez.   I have information of plans that they are preparing to attack the neighboring states of Zulia, with terrorists, with paramilitaries, to attack public services," he detailed during his program Con Maduro +.

In view of this, the Venezuelan leader alerted the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the intelligence and counter-intelligence agencies.   "We have to defend peace in Venezuela, stability, security. These terrorists of the surnames cannot come to try to sabotage Venezuela to try to disrupt our economic recovery and the electoral party of democracy that we are going to have on July 28, with the presidential elections that the Venezuelan people are going to have", he emphasized.

The Venezuelan president reiterated his rejection of terrorism and sabotage, alerting Colombia and Venezuela because "two terrorists are meeting to plan actions."

For his part, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and deputy, Diosdado Cabello, commented that this sector of the opposition sustains the discourse of hatred and against peace.  "President, they are engaged in a worldwide campaign to blame Venezuela and Venezuelans for whatever happens, this is not innocent, nor casual.  They always use the same script, they are repetitive," he added.
