London, May 24 (RHC)-- The International Center of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has submitted a criminal complaint against senior British politicians, alleging complicity in war crimes committed by Israel in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the London-based legal group said the complaint includes a fifth senior government minister.  “The alleged criminal acts are prosecutable in the United Kingdom and will now be considered by Scotland Yard’s War Crimes Investigation Team before a decision is made by them whether to open a formal criminal investigation, which could see alleged perpetrators questioned, arrested and prosecuted,” the statement read.

The advocacy group said the 60-page complaint is comprehensive, with 800 pages of evidence “collected from first hand eyewitnesses, expert reports and expert evidence from nineteen medical professionals who have worked in Gaza since October.”

The complaint builds on an initial one submitted in January that is still being considered by Scotland Yard, which named four British government ministers for “alleged complicity and criminal responsibility in Israeli war crimes.”

The ICJP says Israel is using “starvation as a weapon of war” and the regime is “willfully causing great suffering to Palestinians.”  Tayab Ali, the ICJP director, has underscored the imperative for a thorough investigation into these serious accusations, highlighting the profound human cost of Israel’s savagery.

The move marks a significant step in seeking accountability for the atrocities committed in Gaza.

Foreign Secretary David Cameron has said Britain will not halt arms sales to Israel even if the regime stages a large-scale assault on the southern Palestinian city of Rafah.  No. 10, Downing Street has been under domestic pressure since Israel brutally attacked a World Central Kitchen convoy and killed three British nationals in Gaza in April.
