Beirut, October 10 (RHC)-- On the first anniversary of Israel’s modern barbarism in the Gaza Strip, Tel Aviv released the shocking scenes of torture and abuse of Palestinian detainees at its Ofer prison.   Hamas described the move as a failed attempt by Israel to "to erase the humiliation and defeat” of its forces at the hands of the Resistance in the past year.

The resistance group said in a Wednesday statement that torture and abuse of detainees “under the direct supervision and orders of the terrorist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, reveal the true criminal face of this Nazi occupier.”  “They are a visual confirmation of the tragic conditions our prisoners endure inside these prisons," it said.

“What our prisoners are subjected to, including oppression, abuse, deprivation, and medical neglect—up to the announcement of their martyrdom—constitutes war crimes."  Hamas also urged the international community and human rights organizations “to expose the crimes of this Nazi terrorist enemy against our prisoners.”

The Palestinian Prisoners Society has said Palestinians being held in Ofer Prison in the occupied West Bank are facing "systematic torture and humiliation."   The abuse at this prison is on par with that documented at Israel’s Sde Teiman facility, which has been rocked by reports that its guards raped a Palestinian inmate.

Israel has kidnapped at least 5,000 Palestinians since October 2023, according to the Gaza media office, which said the fate of many of them or the conditions of their detention are still unknown.

Human rights groups have repeatedly raised the alarm about “unprecedented difficult conditions” in which Palestinian detainees, including women, are being held.
