Damascus, October 26 (RHC) -- The Syrian Army's anti-aircraft defense units were activated this Friday to repel an Israeli missile attack in the south, center and west of that Levantine nation.

Local media reported strong explosions in Damascus, the capital, and its surroundings, and throughout the southern region of the country, as well as in the central provinces of Hama and Homs, and in the coastal province of Tartous, resulting from the response to hostile air targets.

Military sources consulted by Prensa Latina confirmed that the Al-Quleib radar plant, in the southern province of Sweida, was damaged by the attacks.

They added that Israel intended to damage the anti-aircraft batteries so that they would not hinder its fighters that are carrying out an aggression against Iran, using the airspace of northern Jordan and southern Syria.

The day before, the authorities announced the decommissioning of the Joussieh border crossing between Syria and Lebanon after a Zionist bombing that caused significant material damage to the offices, while several workers were injured.

Israel intensified its hostile military actions against targets in Syrian territory, some against Damascus, as on the 9th, when a residential building in Mezzeh was attacked, causing nine deaths and 14 injuries. (Source: Prensa Latina)
