La Paz, November 2 (RHC)-- The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, announced this Friday that a step was taken to unblock the connection between Cochabamba and the west and stated that a dialogue is impossible while the road closures in that department, located in the center of the country, persist.

“We have taken a first step: unblocking Cochabamba towards the west of our country,” said Arce on his account on the social network X when referring to the police operation that took control of the bridge in Parotani, which was in the hands of supporters of former President Evo Morales for 19 days.

“Now we will continue working until we free this department from the kidnapping to which it is subjected.  My solidarity with the wounded police officers, with the military hostages, their families and with the journalists who suffered violence on this day,” said the head of state.

Arce thanked the people for their support and the Bolivian Police and the Armed Forces.

“Once again, we urge that all blockade points be lifted.  Our government has always supported dialogue, but no dialogue is possible while the economy of Bolivian families continues to be suffocated and the right to access food, fuel and medicine is violated,” he said.
