Caracas, November 23 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Public Ministry charged this Friday the far-right opponent María Corina Machado, for her actions of promoting and supporting Law HR 825, approved last Monday by the U.S. House of Representatives, which seeks to intensify the blockade and sanctions against the South American country.

Through a statement, the Venezuelan Attorney General's Office recalls that the aforementioned law also seeks to tarnish the name of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, "seriously violating the Constitution, the Laws and Sovereignty."

In this regard, it has been decided to initiate an investigation against Maria Corina Machado, "for her promotion and support of this legal monstrosity that sponsors terrible criminal acts against the Venezuelan people."

The Attorney General's Office explains that Marchado's public pronouncements on the law in question "seriously involve her and constitute the commission of the crimes of treason against the Homeland, established in Article 132 of the Penal Code; conspiracy with foreign countries, established in Article 128 of the Penal Code, and association to commit a crime, established in Article 37 of the Law Against Organized Crime."

As the head of the investigation against the far-right opposition, the Public Prosecutor's Office says it remains firm in its role of guaranteeing justice.

Faced with the provocations of the United States Government by approving Law 825, the National Assembly of Venezuela approved yesterday, in first discussion, the Organic Law Liberator Simon Bolivar against the Imperialist Blockade and for the Defense of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Last Wednesday, President Nicolas Maduro repudiated "the criminal attempt to put the name of Bolivar on a dirty and criminal war law against Venezuela, in the Congress of the United States."

In this sense, he called on all the Venezuelan people to support the fight against the legislation, which he described as a Garbage Law, for which he asked the National Assembly to accelerate the process of approval of the Organic Law Liberator Simon Bolivar against the Imperialist Blockade and for the Defense of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
