Tegucigalpa, November 20 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Honduras is the world’s most violent country with an average rate of 91 people violently murdered for every 100,000 inhabitants. In this dangerous environment, women are the most vulnerable, based on official figures and women rights groups. And in fact, Honduras has an actual rate of one women violently killed every 14 hours.

“Honduras is characterized by the constant murder of women. This is a country that not only promotes violence and the use of weapons in its population, but also perpetuates it, because 95 percent of cases where a woman has been violently murdered, go unpunished,” said Neesa Medina, expert on violence against women investigation.

Medina works with the Center for the Defense of Women Rights that has been raising its voice for several years in Honduras claiming the government's responsibility over the increasing violence in the country.

Women rights organization will carry out a public event over the weekend to reveal figures the government is trying to hide, regarding hundreds of unreported cases of women homicides.
