Buenos Aires, January 19 (RHC-teleSUR) -- Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez met over the weekend with the star French economist Thomas Piketty, discussing issues related to economics and equality.

Piketty, who works on wealth and income inequality and is a professor at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) and at the Paris School of Economics, was welcomed by Fernandez at the presidential residence Quinta de Olivos, where she is recovering from a fracture in her left ankle.

The two met for over two hours, discussing issues including economic inequality and income distribution.

The economist and author of the best-selling book Capital in the Twenty-First Century also met yesterday with the Economy Minister Axel Kicillof and the Central Bank President Alejandro Vanoli.

Piketty also met with press, speaking about income distribution, tax evasion, as well as the South American country's battle with vulture fund creditors. On the ruling by U.S. Judge Thomas Griesa against Argentina, Piketty said the terms are "incredibly arbitrary, selfish and unacceptable," saying the solution to the problem is creation of a "multipolar" world.
