Vatican City, June 8 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez held a meeting with Pope Francis on Sunday during her visit to Rome. “It is going to be a great meeting between two people who care for each other very much and who like to talk about what is happening in the world,” said Eduardo Valdes, Argentinian ambassador to the Vatican, ahead of the meeting.

President Fernandez, who has met with the Argentinian pope on four other occasions, was joined by Foreign Minister Hector Timerman, as well as Minister of Communications Alfredo Scoccimarro, and Minister of Religious Affairs Guillermo Oliveri.

The Argentinian head of state met with former Brazilian President Inacio Lula da Silva, who is also in Rome for the meeting of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The FAO is awarding Argentina a special recognition for the country's efforts to reduce hunger in the country. President Fernandez receives the award on behalf of her country on Monday.
