Bridgetown, July 20 (PL-RHC)--The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has given to Haiti more than $2 million to face and cover damages associated with the 2015 and 2016 hurricane seasons.

According to the Caribbean News Now digital website, the funds approval is part of the financial institution's commitment to support Haitian efforts to mitigate and effectively manage natural disasters and strengthen the economy.

Since 2013 the CDB has granted such assistance to the island nation, which is vulnerable to the impact of disasters following the massive earthquake of January 2010. The quake left more than 300,000 people dead, some three million displaced and one million people homeless, in addition to destruction of the infrastructure of the capital and three other surrounding cities.
